December Daily 2014 Flip Through

Hello Scrappy Fans!

This month, I've been totally inspired by all of the December Daily preparations and album shares around the internet. I just watched Tiffany Lowder from the Scrapgals Podcast do a flip through of one of her December Daily albums, and thought it might be fun to share one of my own. So, here is a video flip through of the first December Daily project I completed for 2014.

If you want to see Tiffany's post about her December Daily album, you can check it out here: http://livingalowderlife.blogspot.com/2016/11/december-daily-2014-video-share.html

My 2014 December project was created almost completely on my iPhone! I never would have thought of doing a December project on my phone if it hadn't been for Steph Clay's #decembersuccess project on Instagram - read more about it here: http://www.modernphotosolutions.com/december-project-overwhelmed/

Thanks, Steph and  Tiffany L. for today's scrappy inspiration!

One Kit - Three Ways

I've been a huge fan of digital scrapbooking since probably the beginning of digital scrapbooking! There are so many reasons why I fangirl over digital kits - here are just a few of them:

  • I never run out of supplies
  • Digi kits have so many goodies in them
  • I don't have to leave my house to buy them, and I receive them instantly
  • and I can paper scrap with my digi supplies!!
Since I never run out of a digi kit, I can scrap tons of layouts in bunches of different ways! Fangirl squeal!

I thought I'd share how I used one digi kit to scrap three different pages - one digital page, one pocket page, and one traditional paper page.

The kit is Brighter Days by Paper Garden Projects - I received it as part of my monthly Digi Files kit club from TheDailyDigi.com (which is an amazing deal worth fangirling over!)

Layout #1 - In the Sunshine - Digital - 12x12

I created this layout in Photoshop - completely digital.

Layout #2 - Life it Sweet- Pocket Page - "Phonebooked" - 6x8

I created this pocket page layout completely on my iPhone. The kit came with some journaling cards which I uploaded to Dropbox and brought into a layout in the Project Life app. I also used the LetterGlow app to create a custom card with some embellishments and journaling.

Layout #3 - Hello Easter - Hybrid/Paper Scrapbooking - 12 x 12

For this layout I dragged a bunch of embellishments from the kit into Silhouette Studio and did a print and cut. Here's what the print and cut page looked like:

I also printed papers from the kit - one 12 x 12 paper for my background, and then smaller pieces of the other papers for layering. I have a wide format printer (an Epson Stylus Photo 2200) so I can print a bunch of papers on one 13 x 19 sheet of matte photo paper. Here's what that print file looked like:

I also printed my photos at home - I had some Instax sized frames from other digital kits by Allison Pennington to give me this cute look!

Then I trimmed out the papers and started building my page just like a paper scrapped page - sticking them down and using pop dots in places for added dimension. I created a printed journaling card as well, but also handwrote some journaling too. I did add a couple of embellishments from my regular stash too - the heart and the scalloped border are from the Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine collection. Here's the finished page:

...and some close ups

I'm super excited that I was able to get so much value from one digital kit! Have you stretched your digi-supplies before? I'd love it if you'd share your layouts in the comments!

Thanks for reading and Happy Scrapping!

Fangirl Inspiration

Heard it from a friend who...
heard it from a friend who...
heard it from another........some awesome scrappy inspiration! (I just can't resist an excuse to sing me some REO Speedwagon!)

Anyway...here's how it went down today:

I was listening to one of my favorite scrappy podcasts - The Scrap Gals Podcast

And wanted to chit chat, so I headed over to their Facebook group - The Scrap Gals Community

When Tracie, one of their hosts, posted a link to this YouTube video by designer and amazingly beautiful scrapbooker Paige Evans - 143 Layouts

Oh my goodness! For one thing, 143 layouts in a year! And ...just look how gorgeous they are! What talent...and so much inspiration!

So, I just loved her layouts with cut out mosaic-y type shapes, with splashes of patterned paper underneath - I immediately had to try to create something like it for myself.

Here's one of the layouts that inspired me: Paige Evans heart cut out layout

And this is the digital layout I created. It's a 6 x 8 layout created in Photoshop CS5. I drew the star myself in Photoshop. All of the papers and elements are from the Just Jaimee March Storyteller Kit except for the washi tape which is by Jenn Barrette.

So...to all my scrappy friends - thanks for the inspiration!

PS: Here's a PNG file of the star I made so you can create your own mosaic layout! You can use it in Photoshop or trace it in Silhouette Studio to make a cut file. Enjoy!

Confessions of a Podcast Addict

Podcasts...oh how I adore them! The boring stuff of life - laundry, dishes, long car rides - it's all so much more exciting when listening to a scrapbooking podcast! Thanks to podcasts, I almost look forward to folding underwear...well, almost.

Seriously...if I can't actually *be* scrapbooking, I can at least be listening to people talk about scrapbooking! One of my favorite podcasts is the Paperclipping Roundtable - Noell Hyman, and all of her cool scrappy guests, teamed up with her hilarious producer/husband Izzy. Is it totally weird that I talk back to them while pairing socks? And...it's totally free to listen to them...unbelievable! They get such cool scrappy guests to hang out with them - Stacy Julian, Shimelle Laine, Jennifer Wilson, Amy Tan, Ali Edwards...ooh, look at me write down names like they are all my best friends!!! My real best friends aren't scrapbookers, so I hope it's okay that I have virtually adopted all the Roundtable ladies (and Izzy), in a totally not creepy-stalkerish kind of way...really :) I love all of your awesome ideas!

...anyway, usually as I'm listening to the podcast, I'm inspired to dive into my supplies and get scrapping as soon as I can. The Paperclipping site also has a paid subscription to awesome scrapbooking videos, and this is a layout that I was inspired to create after watching one of them. Noell made a layout using Project Life cards on a traditional 12 x 12 layout, so I decided to try the same thing. I'm super happy about how it came out...what do you think?

Supplies:
- Project Life Heidi Swapp Foil Kit
- Project Life Amy Tangerine Cut & Paste Edition
- Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine papers

Happy scrapping everyone! ...and go fold that laundry!

Today was Beautiful

I just love scrapbooking the seasons - and where I live, we have all of them! Winter can sometimes make me long for palm trees, but when it does a sunset like this, I don't mind the snow as much!

This layout also gives me a chance to fangirl about one of my fav digi scrapping sites - The Daily Digi! I've been a subscriber to their Digi Files since 2011, and I loooove getting a pile of awesome digi supplies every month - I've got quite a library now,and this stash doesn't even take up space in my scrap room - yee ha!!

For this layout, I did a keyword search on my Digi Files folder for the word "sunset." I didn't really find any sunset themed kits, but I did find this perfect word block that exactly fit this layout!

Then I did a search on "snow" and found the cool snowflake painty swirls that I recolored to match. Using the search feature is an awesome way to use my digi stash!

But, I wouldn't want to leave my paper supplies out, so I grabbed an old EK Success snowflake punch and punched a couple of snowflakes out of paper I had in my stash to add the finishing touch.

And...fyi...I don't get any kick-backs from the places and stuff I'm fangirling over - I'm just all about sharing the love!

Fangirling Scrapbooking across the Internet

I love it! I want to shout it from the rooftops! I want to share my latest supplies, a cool scrappy site, my latest layout...and my friends nod politely and pat me on the head. *sigh*

So...a blog - a blog where I can fangirl all I want about scrapbooking! Yay! And I love it all...traditional paper stuff, digital stuff, hybrid stuff, iPhone stuff, cool photography stuff...bring it on!

So here's where I'll share my love of all things scrapbooking - my fav scrappy people, scrappy stuff, and scrappy layouts. Feel free to fangirl, fanboy, or fanperson along with me...let's get scrappy!

Yay scrapbooking!
